Netflix offers quite a few exciting movies to start December with. While I know the Christmas season is coming soon, we are still some time away from it. As such, before the second half of the month kicks things into overdrive, I believe the perfect three movies to watch on Netflix this week come from a few different genres.
For this week's Netflix movie list, I've looked into some of the most exciting movies that are joining the platform to start December in style. While it is true that Netflix has great original movies, these three licensed films are just perfect for quite different sets of viewers, including an animated movie, a superhero/horror film, and an exhilarating dark comedy.
3 Kung Fu Panda (2008)
With Zootopia 2 breaking box office records, putting up a shocking $556 million global debut, family movies are the talk of the town as we enter the final month of 2025. For those families who have already made the trip to the theaters to watch the Zootopia sequel or who have plans of waiting until it arrives on streaming, Netflix has the answer.
As of December 1st, the first three Kung Fu Panda movies are now streaming on Netflix. The animated franchise has it all, mixing kinetic fight design with hilarious comedy and jaw-dropping animation. As such, 2008's Kung Fu Panda, which sees Jack Black's Po go from a regular panda to the hero of a prophecy, is fun for the whole family.
2 Brightburn (2019)
Next up, Netflix has the perfect movie for horror fans who enjoy superhero stories. Over the years, the concept of an evil or darker version of DC's Superman has become popular across comics, animation, movies, and more. Characters like The Boys' Homelander and Invincible's Omni-Man saw their popularity explode because of that trope. However, someone came before then in terms of adaptations.
Brightburn, which is produced by DC Studios' creative chief James Gunn and written by his brother, Brian, and his cousin, Mark, explores an origin story similar to Superman's. After a baby arrives in Kansas on a spaceship, he grows up to develop powers. However, unlike the Man of Steel, his parents soon realize he has far darker intentions. This unique horror movie promises many surprises.
1 The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013)
Finally, the last movie I recommend watching on Netflix this week is simply one of the best films of all time. Directed by Hollywood legend Martin Scorsese, The Wolf of Wall Street has a star-studded cast, led by Leonardo DiCaprio in an energetic turn as Jordan Belfort, that many believe should have given him the Best Actor Oscar.
Belfort's journey from a regular stockbroker to the head of his own firm, Stratton Oakmont, which made millions out of shadowy practices, is depicted with many thrills, shocking turns, alcohol, drugs, and sex in this movie that hits like a shot of adrenaline. DiCaprio is simply magnetic throughout, so Netflix subscribers who choose to check out the film will not regret it.
