Winners in seven of their last eight games, the Heat continue to impress, with their only loss during that stretch coming against the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons. In the last appearance for the Heat, it was a cake walk, as they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 140-123 in a game that wasn’t even close. After James Harden made three free throws to bring the score to 25-24, the Heat went on a 20-0 run that essentially ended the game. Norman Powell led Miami with 30 points, shooting 6-for-10 from the 3-point line.
Dallas is on a modest two-game win streak, first beating the Los Angeles Clippers 114-110, then putting together an impressive 131-121 road win over the Denver Nuggets. Trailing by two heading to the fourth quarter, the Mavericks relied on Anthony Davis, who scored nine points to go with six rebounds, two assists, and a block in the deciding quarter. For the game, Davis had 32 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists, with Ryan Nembhard chipping in with 28 points and 10 assists. Rookie Cooper Flagg continues to find his footing, as he scored 24 points on 10-for-19 from the field.
