Athletic Bilbao 0-3 Real Madrid (Mbappé x2 & Camavinga) Back to winning ways… This is my immediate reaction to the win. Get more: Player ratings, interviews and a victory podcast.
Athletic Bilbao away isn’t the fixture you want if you’ve drawn your last three league games, but for Real Madrid – they had to get back on track somehow. Fede Valverde was deployed on the wing, with Trent Alexander-Arnold behind him – in an otherwise strong line-up. Fede would also sport the armband.
As tricky as the fixture may be… Madrid made it look easy work through Kylian Mbappé – who missed an early chance before scoring within ten minutes. Bilbao would get the next two opportunities, before Eduardo Camavinga doubled the lead before half-time. 2-0 to Los Blancos at the interval.
Bilbao would try to salvage something, hoping Madrid were caught sleeping at half-time. After a missed chance though, Kylian Mbappé made them pay with his second goal of the game. Eduardo Camavinga then came off injured, before Fede Valverde spurned the final chance of the game. Full-time, 3-0 – and Madrid back to winning ways in style. What did you think about the performance?
