The Boys season 5 first look confirms Homelander is a harbinger of the apocalypse, teasing the destructive events that will unfold in the final episodes. The Boys season 5 will end the main series in the superhero franchise, with the group fighting Homelander and Vought one last time. Butcher's fight with the Seven's leader seems poised to take center stage.
Now, The Boys has released the first two posters for season 5, featuring Homelander and Billy Butcher. The first poster sees Butcher standing next to what looks like a wrecked Vought tower, a crowbar in hand. The second shows Homelander looking down at a burning Earth from space, with flaming, apocalyptic explosions erupting below. Check out the posters here:
The posters promise a final showdown between The Boys' core characters, who have been at each other's throats since season 1. Butcher is now in possession of a virus that could wipe out all of Supekind, while also having uncontrollable powers of his own from misusing V. Homelander, meanwhile, has the US government's backing, who've declared Supe-led martial law.
The Boys season 4 ended with every member of the team, aside from Butcher and Starlight, getting captured by Vought. A post-credits scene for the finale also confirmed Homelander's plans to wake Soldier Boy up. While it's unclear how all these puzzle pieces will fit together, it teases an explosive eight-episode finale for the Prime Video series.
The posters emphasize just how massive the final battle is going to be between Butcher and Homelander. The pair now have the most power they've ever held, with Butcher holding the key to killing all Supes, and Homelander having more global power than ever before. It's implied their conflict will be a brutal and destructive fight to the finish.
However, the posters don't reveal how Ryan, Homelander and Becca Butcher's son, will factor into their conflict. He was last seen accidentally killing Mallory, a deciding factor in Butcher's current mindset. However, the young boy doesn't want to become evil like Homelander. His inner conflict may be important to however the pair's battle plays out.
For now, though, it seems like The Boys season 5 will see plenty of world-shattering events transpire as Butcher and Homelander fight one last time. It's unclear how the rest of the characters will factor in just yet, but it's certain the pair will be the core focus of how the final episodes will play out.
The Boys season 5 arrives on Prime Video in 2026.
