The Texas Longhorns landed arguably the most dynamic playmaker in the country when they secured the commitment from four-star Willis athlete Jermaine Bishop in May. Bishop’s commitment to the Longhorns came a little out of the blue back before any official visits, but it was a very welcomed sight for Texas fans all things considered.
Bishop became a household name on the recruiting scene back when he was catching passes from five-star quarterback DJ Lagway and was already putting up gaudy numbers as a receiver.
When Lagway left off for Gainesville, the show didn’t leave with him — Bishop continued to be a two-way standout for Willis and has been one of top playmakers in the country regardless of classification. In a recent playoff game, Bishop absolutely electrified the crowd with his play on both sides of the ball and continued his historic run at the wide receiver position.
Soon Bishop will be bringing his talents to Austin, as he has officially put pen to paper and signed with the Longhorns.
Bishop is going to finish his high school career well within the top 10 in both receiving yards and receptions for the state of Texas all time. His playmaking ability with the ball in his hands is going to get him on the field sooner rather than later in his collegiate career.

– Three-phase difference maker with extensive experience at wideout, slot, RB, and SAF.– Noticeable increase in explosiveness and long speed as high school career progressed.– Faster guys exist at the top end, but launches off the line of scrimmage with extreme suddenness to erase cushion.– That sudden athleticism translates to run-after-catch situations as an angle eraser.– Surprisingly strong with the ball given lack of size.– Capable of stacking cuts/stringing moves to maximize touches.– RAC ability and striking/tackling/stripping talents speak to functional strength that far exceeds measurables.– Startling arriving power as a striker and as a catch-point combatant.– Physical upside is clearly capped; verified athleticism is average to above average.– Insane production: Shattered Houston metro’s all-time receiving mark, eclipsed 5,000 scrimmage yards and 60-plus TDs, picked off 15 passes, scored six return TDs (INT, PR, KR).– At the forefront of the discussion for the best pure football player in the 2026 class. Embodies the player-over-athlete argument as a high-major impact player who could become an early-round NFL Draft candidate.
