There are a number of ways the Toronto Blue Jays can try to clear the final hurdle.

They lost in extra innings of Game 7 of the World Series to the Dodgers. You can't be closer to a championship than that.

They've already made moves this offseason, signing free agent pitchers Dylan Cease (7/$210M) and Cody Ponce (3/$30M).

They are expected to be in the market for at least one of Kyle Tucker or Bo Bichette, if not both.

And there's also some thought they could be active in the trade market, seeking to move prospects for more MLB talent.

Trey Yesavage is off limits, writes MLB.com's Jim Callis, but he lays out the rest of the plan in a new article on Wednesday.

"They got as close as you can get to a World Series without winning it, and I think that makes them extra motivated to make a trade," Callis said. "I don't think they part with Trey Yesavage (No. 1/MLB No. 26) or JoJo Parker (No. 2/MLB No. 43) by any means. But I can see pretty much anybody else in the organization being available in a trade that makes the Blue Jays better in 2026. It's not the deepest system in the world, but there are interesting guys up and down the system."

Not moving Yesavage or Parker would limit somewhat the overall pull the Blue Jays would be able to get in a deal.

But if they really are loading up in free agency, they don't necessarily need a superstar in a trade. It may just be a way to plug a final gap.

And the Blue Jays have a good enough prospect system to at least do that, even without moving their top-tier guys.
