ORANGEBURG, SC (WJBF)- The South Carolina High School League held their press conference for all classifications heading into the state championships in Orangeburg.
Bamberg Ehrhardt and Storm Thurmond are playing at South Carolina State this week. The 12-2 Rebels are coming off 15-13 semifinals win over Fairfield Central and have won nine straight games. They’ll be playing in their first state title since 2005.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAs for the Red Raiders, they’re 14-0, and are back in the state title game for the first time since 2021. They’re seeking their first undefeated campaign in school history.
“It would mean everything to this community. Everyone being through this journey with us, there’s been ups and downs this season, but we’ve been pushing every day to get better and go win the state title,” said Bamberg-Ehrhardt wide receiver Marcus Cann.
“We said at the start of the season that it’s a special group of men, and I believe in my coach and everything that he taught us, I want to finish it with my brothers,” said Strom Thurmond running back Deonte Phillips.
Bamberg-Ehrhardt will play Friday at 4p.m. against Lamar, Strom Thurmond will face Hampton County on Saturday at 4 p.m.
