One of the most underrated World War II movies ever made is back on the streaming charts, 11 years after its initial theatrical release. 2014 brought many great movies, but one that stood out among the crowd was Fury, a WWII action epic that follows a grizzled tank commander as he leads his crew across Germany in 1945. Starring Brad Pitt and Jon Bernthal, the film garnered critical acclaim and has become a fan favorite in the years since. Fury is streaming on Netflix in America, but overseas, the film has stormed VOD charts in several countries, including Bolivia and Italy.

In addition to Pitt and Bernthal, who star as Don ‘Wardaddy’ Collier and Grady ‘Coon-Ass’ Travis, Fury also features Shia LaBeouf as Boyd ‘Bible’ Swan, Logan Lerman as Norman Ellison, Michael Peña as Trini ‘Gordo’ Garcia, and Jason Isaacs as Captain Waggoner. Fury earned a Certified Fresh 75% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and it also sits at a strong audience score of 84% on the aggregator site. It cost only $68 million to make, a relatively low budget for a movie with so much tank action, but it grossed $211 million globally, making it a massive financial hit.

David Ayer wrote the original script for Fury, and he also directed the film. Ayer is also responsible for other hits over the years, such as End of Watch, the documentary-style police procedural starring Peña and Jake Gyllenhaal. He recently teamed up with Jason Statham for The Beekeeper and A Working Man. He’s also in line to reunite with Fury star Brad Pitt for Heart of the Beast, a new action-adventure epic that co-stars J.K. Simmons.

Brad Pitt Once Starred in Another Beloved WWII Movie

Five years before he starred in Fury, Pitt starred in another beloved WWII movie that won an Oscar and was nominated for seven more. Pitt stars alongside Christoph Waltz and Michael Fassbender in Inglourious Basterds, the 2009 dark comedy/period drama that’s currently streaming on Netflix in America, along with Fury. The film was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, and it saw Christoph Waltz win his first Oscar. Waltz reunited with Tarantino a few years later for Django Unchained, which won him his second Academy Award. Tarantino certainly knows how to get the best out of his biggest stars.
