DC is moving forward with James Gunn's new shared universe, but there could be a way for Zack Snyder's version of the franchise to return, and for that to happen, today is a crucial day. Gunn's DC Universe has already released its first three projects. All of them were written and directed by the DC Studios co-CEO, signaling DC's new direction.
When he was spearheading the DCEU movie franchise, Snyder helmed three movies at DC, also producing five others, including Gunn's The Suicide Squad. After the successful release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, fans have turned their attention to a revival of the franchise on Netflix. Given that Warner Bros. Discovery is entertaining offers from other studios, DC should be part of whatever bid wins.
Today Marks An Important Warner Bros. Discovery Deadline

We have known for some time that there are three major studios in the race to buy Warner Bros. Discovery. Those are Comcast, Paramount, and Netflix. After initial interest, all studios have submitted bids. Warner then analyzed those offers and established a new deadline for the three studios to come up with improved bids. According to The Hollywood Reporter, that deadline is today, December 1st.
THR also notes that while Paramount intends to purchase all of Warner Bros. Discovery, both Comcast and Netflix have different plans. The two studios are reportedly eyeing the "studios and streaming businesses," instead of a full-on Warner takeover. DC Studios would then fall into the deal for whichever bid wins, which keeps some fans' hopes of a DC Snyderverse revival at Netflix alive.
What Happens Next For The DC Snyderverse's Possible Return?

If the Snyderverse is to return, then Netflix must be the studio to have the best bid. Both Paramount and Comcast have no ties to the director in a way that would explain a return of the divisive superhero franchise. After this new round of negotiations, once the deadline expires, Warner Bros. Discovery should directly engage one of the studios for exclusive talks, according to Reuters.
As such, all the DC fans hoping that the Snyderverse could come back should keep an eye on the news for any updates regarding who Warner favors out of the three studios after the December 1st deadline. A direct answer to whether the return of DC's Snyderverse is possible could come as soon as this week, depending on when updates emerge.
That said, it is important to note that even if Netflix's bid is considered the best and Warner starts exclusive negotiations with the studio, the Snyderverse's return, be it in animation or live-action, is far from guaranteed. While the studio is the place for such a reveal, Netflix has cancelled multiple Snyder projects, so his DC franchise coming back is questionable.
