One of Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg’s targets for their vacant sporting director position is out of the running. Kicker reports that Hannover 96 personnel executive Marcus Mann has turned down Germany’s green company team. The German Wolves must continue to search for a successor to the sacked Sebastian Schindzielorz.

Wolfsburg have already received a rejection from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim sporting director Andreas Schicker, who opted to remain in Sinsheim despite that club’s internal problems. It remains unclear at this juncture who the Lower Saxon Autostädter may be able to attract to the position at this point.

Mann will remain with his own Lower Saxon club for now. Hannover currently occupy fourth place in the 2. Bundesliga table and are level on points with SV Elversberg for the promotion-relegation playoff spot. Hannover are hoping to return to the top division for the first time since in seven years.

Wolfsburg remain on the hunt for a new sporting director first and foremost as the January transfer window approaches. At present, Wolfsburg managing director Peter Christiansen has taken over Schindzierlorz’s role on a temporary basis.
