It was a very light week for Purdue basketball last week. While most of the top teams in the country were playing in showcase events, Purdue played just once in a Friday afternoon blowout of lowly Eastern Illinois. That is the beauty of having your showcase event so early.
That meant Purdue stays No. 1 in the nation this week, but Michigan is making its case after a strong showing in Las Vegas. The Wolverines beat San Diego State, Auburn, and Gonzaga In the Players Era Championship for three solid resume wins.
