The Denver Broncos just keep winning and this latest victory over the Washington Commanders might have been the wildest finish yet during their nine game win streak. They say winning is contagious and if that’s the case, these 2025 Broncos are fully infected. Surprisingly, there were not as many game ball worthy performances as the defense struggled throughout and the plays that won the game were significant and few in number.

That said, if the defense were to have a bad game it was nice to see the offense step up and do what was needed to win it. The defense has won its fair share of games when the offense wasn’t performing. That is the type of complementary football you want to see from a team with championship aspirations.
Here are Mile High Report’s game balls for the Broncos’ 27-26 overtime victory against the Commanders!
Bo Nix
Various pundits in the national media are still throwing shade at Bo Nix this morning. They seem to completely ignore the fact that Bo Nix single-handedly put that offense on his back and willed them to victory. Denver had zero run game and needed Nix to throw the ball 45 times to find points. The 2025 Broncos will only go as far as Bo Nix can take them. That is, unless someone can step up to fill the void left by JK Dobbins, because that run game is rough… Oh, and check out this frickin’ throw again. Whew! – Tim Lynch
Nik Bonitto
There is only one reason to give a gameball to Nik Bonitto. I don’t know how many times the Broncos defense was one play away from ending the game, but every time they were, Washington kept the game going. That is, until Nik Bonitto finally said, “Enough!” After the Commanders scored a TD in OT, they elected to go for 2 to get the win. It felt like Bonitto floated into the air, and with his best Dikembe Mutombo impression, he batted the ball down to finally put an end to the game. He also had the Broncos lone sack. Gameball to Bonitto (Italian for Bad Ass Mother Effer). -Adam Malnati
Ja’Quan McMillian
Ja’Quan McMillian gets my game ball for this game. He finished the game with 6 tackles (4 solo) and one PBU, but it seems like every time he was in position to make a play he did. He got some praise during the broadcast, but he has been an unsung hero of this defense for the whole season. – Joe Mahoney

After some early drops, tight end Evan Engram caught fire. He made several great catches, but none greater than his 41-yard catch and run through the defense in overtime that setup what would be the game-winning touchdown. Have a game ball!
Riley Moss
Riley Moss gets my game ball this week. He’s been picked on, flagged, dogged, and chuckled at by many who don’t know good football when they see it. Washington tested him many times, looking for free PIs, and he responded all game long by playing superb defense, batting away passes, and forgetting the plays he gave up. Moss is going to be a starting corner for a long time in this league and deserves big credit for his play, helping the Broncos win a hard-fought game in overtime. – Sadaraine

It wasn’t pretty for the rookie running back, much like the game, but Harvey delivered when his team needed him. He scored two touchdowns, the second the eventual game-winner. Harvey also had 14 carries for 35 yards, as well as three receptions for 27 yards. Nothing Earth shattering from Harvey, but his two touchdowns helped lead the Broncos to the big win. – Ian St. Clair
Courtland Sutton
Veteran wideout Courtland Sutton gets my game ball for his outing against the Commanders. He caught five passes on six targets for 62 yards and 1 touchdown. He was one player I was hoping would step up. When the Broncos needed a big first down or a touchdown in the redzone, Sutton has been a favorite target of Bo Nix throughout the season. His clutch ability showed up again in primetime. With his performance on Sunday Night Football, Sutton also eclipsed the 6,000-career receiving yard mark. Kudos to Sutton on a great game and hitting that milestone! – Chris Hart
