This is a low point for the Falcons.
Losing to this New York Jets team that just went on a fire sale feels like the final straw for the Terry Fontenot-Raheem Morris era. If it is, then they picked the perfect note to leave on.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThere is no better encapsulation of why the Falcons need a deep clean than the stink that emanates from this loss to the Jets. The multitude of special teams miscues that continued to give New York oxygen, even when they clearly didn’t want to live. The constant feeling that Atlanta will “find a way” to give the Jets another shot at winning this game, despite their clear lack of top-tier talent, talent that this Falcons front office assured us that they brought into the building.
Despite that, there were a few highlights, mostly from the Falcons’ running game, as they limp to 4-8 with a daunting set of games ahead of them.
Tyler Allgeier evens up the score right before half
10 plays, 62 yards and a first half full of dejection led to Tyler Allgeier finding the endzone with less than ten seconds to go in the first half to tie up this lifeless performance against the New York Jets.
Allgeier gets his 8th rushing touchdown on the season, building on his career-high for his career. As the Falcons continue to punish Bijan Robinson fantasy owners for their love of one of the better backs in the league, Bijan believers aren’t leaving the first half completely empty-handed.

Bijan Robinson carries the Falcons to the end zone to take the lead
Out of 95 of the yards it took for the Falcons to reach the endzone to take the lead, Bijan Robinson is responsible for 58 of them, including this incredible five-yard run that only Robinson can make look this easy.
With this run, Robinson eclipses the 100-yard mark for the fourth time this season, currently tied for 3rd-most in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens’ Derrick Henry. With 153 yards from scrimmage, Bijan becomes the first player with four games of 150+ scrimmage yards.

David Sills, the former West Virginia Mountaineer UDFA, came into the fourth season of his career with zero receiving touchdowns. In the past two weeks, Sills has two TDs, this one after an impressive jumpcut to turn a play that was dead to rights into six crucial points on the road.
Former Ole Miss head coaches aside, Sills has allowed Kirk Cousins to tie Warren Moon for 16th on the all-time passing touchdowns list with his 291st in his career. Kyle Pitts also was able to surpass 75+ yards for the first time since week 8 of last season (21 games).
