It’s week 13 of the NFL season and the New York Jets are at home in East Rutherford, New Jersey to take on the Atlanta Falcons. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EST.
The Jets have opened the 2025 season with 2-9 record. They started with seven straight losses, won two straight, and now have lost their last two games. They traded away their best two players for draft picks at the trade deadline, benched their slumping starting quarterback in favor of a 36 year old backup, lost their best receiver to injury, and now they are playing out the string, waiting for mathematical elimination from the NFL playoffs. The remaining games on the schedule will serve to evaluate who will and won’t be back next season.

Tank commanders are rooting for the Jets to lose their remaining games for improved draft position. Others are still rooting for Jets victories. If you’re in the latter category, today’s home game against the Atlanta Falcons presents one of the best remaining opportunities to get a win. The Falcons look a lot like the Jets on offense. Like the Jets they will be missing their starting quarterback, Michael Penix, who is out with a season ending ACL injury. Penix will be replaced by 37 year old backup Kirk Cousins. Like the Jets they will also be missing their best receiver, Drake London, due to injury. The Jets best remaining offensive weapon is star running back Breece Hall. The Falcons’ best remaining offensive weapon is their star running back Bijan Robinson. Robinson is outstanding. He presents the Jets with a big challenge stopping the Falcons’ run game. If the Jets can find a way to limit Robinson, the other Falcons’ offensive weapons are not particularly threatening. Likewise, if the Falcons can limit Breece Hall, the Jets’ offense is equally bereft of top end weapons. On a cold, damp day in New Jersey, this one could end up being a low scoring defensive struggle.
It’s the New York Jets seeking their third victory of the 2025 season against the Atlanta Falcons today. Enjoy the game everyone.
