SEC Power Rankings: New No. 1 team following loaded rivalry week

The SEC's final week of the regular season was headlined by the Iron Bowl and Egg Bowl, as well as many other high stakes matchups.

This past Saturday, the 2025 SEC football regular season officially came to an end with a loaded rivalry week slate.

A week where games began Friday, the SEC got things going prior to Saturday with three massive matchups on Nov. 28, each of which had conference title implications. This included the Egg Bowl in Starkville, Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate in Atlanta, and the Lone Star Showdown in Austin.

The slate then concluded Saturday with numerous intriguing matchups, headlined by the Iron Bowl in Auburn to cap the week.

Taking an overall look at the slate as well, many of these games produced significant outcomes, with the SEC title game matchup as a result now finalized coming out of the weekend.

Following is a look at the updated SEC power rankings entering conference championship week, as well as a look at which two teams will be playing in Atlanta on Saturday afternoon.

16. Arkansas Razorbacks

Arkansas suffered a 31-17 loss at home to Missouri on Saturday. Despite a lead at halftime, the Razorbacks were outscored in the second half a combined 17-0, and struggled mightily with penalties by committing 16 total.

The Razorbacks' season ends at 2-10 overall (0-8 SEC).

15. South Carolina Gamecocks

South Carolina's season came to an end Saturday at home with a 28-14 loss to in-state rival Clemson. Aside from a solid second quarter, this was simply a rough showing from the Gamecocks, a game in which South Carolina had a total of four turnovers committed.

The Gamecocks' season ends at 4-8 overall (1-7 SEC).

14. Auburn Tigers

Auburn saw their season come to an end Saturday night with a 27-20 home loss to Alabama in the Iron Bowl. During the loss, Auburn was actually tied in the fourth quarter with Alabama, but had two very costly turnovers near the red zone.

The Tigers' season ends at 5-7 overall (1-7 SEC).

13. Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky's season came to an end Saturday with a 41-0 road loss at Louisville, a result that cost the Wildcats bowl-eligibility. This was simply a rough showing in which the Wildcats posted only 140 yards of total offense, committed two turnovers, and went a combined 2-of-13 on third downs.

The Wildcats end the season at 5-7 overall (2-6 SEC).

12. Florida Gators

Florida's season came to an end Saturday afternoon with a 40-21 home win over in-state rival Florida State. A result which snapped a four-game losing streak, Florida owned the second half of the contest to the tune of a 23-7 edge, and were led by a monster showing from running back Jadan Baugh, who rushed for 266 yards and two scores on 38 attempts.

The Gators' season ends at 4-8 overall (2-6 SEC).

11. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Mississippi State's season came to an end during rivalry week with a 38-19 loss at home to rival Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl. Despite a strong showing from quarterback Kamario Taylor in his first start, the Bulldogs struggled at times on defense by surrendering 545 yards of total offense, and were never able to overcome a 21-10 halftime deficit.

The Bulldogs third consecutive loss, Mississippi State will miss a bowl game at 5-7 overall (1-7 SEC).

10. LSU Tigers

LSU nearly pulled off a significant upset Saturday afternoon in Norman, ultimately falling on the road at Oklahoma, 17-13. Despite forcing three Oklahoma turnovers, LSU struggled on the offensive side of the ball in the loss, as the Tigers posted only 198 yards of total offense, while also finishing 2-of-14 on third down.

The Tigers (7-5 overall, 3-5 SEC) will await their bowl game opponent.

9. Missouri Tigers

Missouri ended the regular season with a 31-17 road win at Arkansas. This was a game where Missouri racked up 322 of their 347 total yards on the ground, while also owning a 17-0 advantage in the second half.

At 8-4 overall (4-4 SEC), Missouri will await their bowl game opponent.

8. Tennessee Volunteers

Tennessee fell at home to Vanderbilt on Saturday in a ranked matchup, 45-24. A game which was tied at halftime, the Volunteers were outscored in the second half a combined 24-3, and surrendered 582 yards of total offense, as well as 314 on the ground.

7. Vanderbilt Commodores

Vanderbilt picked up a massive rivalry week victory Saturday by defeating Tennessee in Knoxville, 45-24. Despite a pair of turnovers, this was the third consecutive game where Vanderbilt scored 45 points headlined by 582 yards of total offense, 314 of which came on the ground, while the Commodores also owned the second half with a 24-3 edge.

The Commodores will await their College Football Playoff fate at 10-2 overall (6-2 SEC).

6. Texas Longhorns

Texas picked up a big win during rivalry week by handing rival Texas A&M their first loss of the season in Austin, 27-17. In the win, Texas forced two Aggie turnovers, posted 218 yards rushing, and dominated the fourth quarter to the tune of a 24-7 advantage.

5. Ole Miss Rebels

In the midst of rumors surrounding head coach Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss left Starkville on Saturday with a big 38-19 road win at Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl. Jumping out to an early lead, Ole Miss racked up 545 yards of total offense in the win led by quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who threw for 359 yards and four touchdowns.

Ole Miss misses the conference title game at 11-1 overall (7-1 SEC), and will await their College Football Playoff fate.

4. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama kept their College Football Playoff hopes alive Saturday with a 27-20 road win at Auburn in the Iron Bowl. In the win, Alabama struggled at times offensively by racking up only 280 total yards with 4-of-17 conversions on third down, but did force two turnovers, both of which were massive from Bray Hubbard.

3. Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma survived a near devastating upset Saturday afternoon in Norman with a 17-13 win over LSU. The Sooners offense struggled in this game at times with three turnovers, but Oklahoma's defense was again a massive story, as they limited LSU to only 198 yards of total offense.

2. Texas A&M Aggies

Georgia defeated rival Georgia Tech on Friday afternoon in the latest edition of clean, old-fashioned hate, 16-9. With the game played in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, this was a defensive battle between the Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets, with Georgia able to win due to a big second quarter, as well as limiting Georgia Tech to only 250 yards of total offense.

Improving to 11-1 overall (7-1 SEC), Georgia advances to the SEC Championship Game where they will face Alabama this upcoming Saturday.
