When it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers, few sports personalities have as much to say as Colin Cowherd. His latest comments took aim squarely at head coach Mike Tomlin and his lack of playoff success. According to Cowherd, no good team like the Philadelphia Eagles or Dallas Cowboys would have kept Tomlin around after eight years without a playoff win.
Cowherd noted that the Steelers haven't had a losing season in 21 seasons, which is technically true but he mistakenly attributed that to Tomlin. Those 21 seasons include the final three seasons where Bill Cowher was the Steelers head coach as well. However, Tomlin has the longest streak in NFL history but we agree with Cowherd that is has lost its luster in recent years with the lack of playoff success.
Steelers ownership has always been loyal to a fault when it comes to head coaches. The team has only had three since 1969, which is a mark no team can even approach. However, in the modern NFL, even the Rooneys have to understand that maintaining the status quo isn't good enough.
