ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. (WKBN) – Clairton blanked Greenville, 57-0, in the PIAA Class 1A State Semifinals at Helling Stadium, Ellwood City Lincoln High School on Friday night.

Clairton took the early lead on a one-yard touchdown run by Deon Lovelace-Pompey. The two-point conversion gave the Bears an 8-0 lead.

The Bears increased the lead to 16-0 when Brandon Murphy returned a teammate’s fumble on a mishandled punt for a touchdown.

Lovelace-Pompey added a six-yard touchdown run later in the first quarter. The two-point conversion increased Clairton’s lead to 22-0.

Later in the second quarter, Donte Wright ripped off a 26-yard touchdown run, giving the Bears a 30-0 lead with the two-point conversion.

Following a Greenville interception, Clairton struck again when Jeff Thompson connected with Taris Wooding on a 28-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion was no good, but the Bears held a 36-0 lead.

Thompson added an eight-yard scoring scamper with 0:09 remaining in the second quarter, increasing the Clairton lead to 43-0.

The Bears made it 50-0 on Brandon Murphy’s 75-yard punt return for a touchdown with 9:11 remaining in the third quarter.

Michael Ruffing added a three-yard touchdown run, making it a 57-0 Clairton lead.

The Trojans were competing in the State Final Four for the first time in 29 years.

Greenville’s season comes to an end at 12-2. Clairton improves to 14-1. The Bears advance to face Bishop Guilfoyle in the PIAA Class 1A State Championship game at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cumberland Valley High School.
