Season in Review – Petey Halpin

Looking at Petey Halpin’s short time up with Cleveland in 2025.

Season in Review – Petey HalpinStory byNicole WilliamsThu, November 27, 2025 at 5:00 PM UTC·1 min read

Petey Halpin was one of the last call ups for the Cleveland Guardians, not making his debut until September 20th. Petey spent the majority of the season in AAA Columbus where he put up .249/.321/.414 with a 95 wRC+ and 14 HR.

Halpin did not have much exposure to major league hitting, having only 8 plate appearances. Stephen Vogt had a very specific role for the 23 year old outfielder. He was used as a late inning pinch runner/defensive sub. This was perfect for him with his bat and his experience.

But how will the Guardians use him in 2026?

Petey’s bat doesn’t look to be the miracle power hitting outfielder bat that the team has been searching for, but what he doesn’t improve for the team offensively, he could improve defensively. Halpin played 910.1 innings in center field for the Clippers in 2025. In that time he only committed on error.

It will be interesting to see where Petey starts the year – AAA, Cleveland, or maybe with another team. However, he has the opportunity to come into form as a hitter once he gets significant major league exposure.
