The Seattle Seahawks are catching a break in Week 13, so it seems. Their opponent, the Minnesota Vikings, are down to their third-string quarterback. Both starter J.J. McCarthy and veteran backup Carson Wentz are sidelined with injury. Vikings rookie undrafted free agent Max Brosmer will be making his first career start as a result.

Here's a fun fact. Brosmer and Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald both went to Centennial High School in Roswell, Georgia, John Boyle and Brady Henderson noted on Twitter. That links Macdonald with the quarterback he'll be game-planning for this weekend.

Brosmer played sparingly this season in relief duty. The former Minnesota Golden Gophers quarterback has completed 5-of-8 passing attempts for 42 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Brosmer played more extensively throughout the preseason.

Brosmer completed 35-of-58 passes on 64 dropbacks during the exhibition (60.3%). He threw for 364 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Game-planning for a rookie UDFA signal-caller represents a unique challenge. As Macdonald noted, the coaching staff will speak to scouts who scouted Brosmer pre-draft, and they'll also watch some of his collegiate tape at Minnesota. Those aren't normal preparations for an NFL quarterback.

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell will likely attempt to lean on the rushing attack. Macdonald's complex defensive scheme will intend to make life extremely difficult on Brosmer throughout his first start. The Seahawks are favorites in Week 13.
