As Clemson worked through its mid-week practice schedule, Dabo Swinney held his final media session on Wednesday, offering a look at how the Tigers are shaping up before their annual trip to Columbia.
One of the main topics was freshman quarterback Chris Denson, who left Monday’s workout after another player accidentally landed on his foot while he was running the scout team. Swinney said the young passer has responded well since then.

Denson has been gaining attention after taking on his biggest role yet during the win over Furman. The lefty provided a spark in the ground game, topping the 100-yard mark, and connected on all four of his pass attempts for 22 yards. He also crossed the goal line twice, adding both a rushing and passing touchdown to his early résumé.
The rookie joined the Tigers in January and arrived with strong recruiting credentials, listed among the nation’s top dual-threat quarterbacks in the 2025 class by both Rivals (No. 14) and ESPN (No. 25).
Clemson sits at 6–5 heading into its matchup with South Carolina, which is 4–7. The meeting at Williams-Brice Stadium is set for a noon kickoff on Saturday and will air on SEC Network.
