New Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons have been revealed, with the likes of KPop Demon Hunters, Shrek, and more taking over New York City's skies. The yearly parade will be sporting a number of floats and balloons, alongside Thanksgiving Day Parade performances. But one of the biggest draws will be the new balloons that will be on display.
The 2025 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is now sporting five new balloons in the lineup, all of which hail from popular media franchises. They'll be making their debut for the first time as the parade continues throughout the morning in New York City. The balloons are of the following characters:
- Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story
- Derpy Tiger from KPop Demon Hunters
- Sussie (mini balloon) from KPop Demon Hunters
- Mario from Super Mario Bros.
- Pac-Man from Pac-Man
- Shrek's Onion Carriage from Shrek
Check out what the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade's new balloons are going to look like below:
In a post from Catsuka, Derpy Tiger and Sussie, both of whom are the pets of Ahn Hyo-seop in KPop Demon Hunters, can be seen. Both are a testament to just how successful the film has become, earning the title of Netflix's most-watched English language movie of all time.
An Instagram post from macysparadehistory shows off Shrek's carriage, including a look at his teenage children, who will be featured in the upcoming Shrek 5.
Attractions Magazine posted an image of Mario, his inclusion a celebration of his 40th anniversary, alongside promotion for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, arriving in theaters April 3, 2026.
Walks&WallStreet posted an image of Buzz Lightyear's balloon, which is being featured in celebration of Toy Story 5's approaching release on June 19, 2026.
The official PAC-MAN X account posted images of the classic video game character's balloon, which comes as the franchise reaches its 45th anniversary.
The new balloons at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will be joined by 29 balloons from previous years. This includes a holiday-themed Pikachu and Eevee from Pokémon, alongside Luffy D. Monkey from the cast of One Piece. Check out the full list of returning balloons below:

The major new balloons will also be joined by new balloonicles: The Frostpips from the Elf on the Shelf universe, and a Happy Hippo Triple Stack, of three colorful hippos atop each other's backs. Sussie also counts as a smaller addition, while they balance atop a flowerpot.
Overall, the new additions to the parade emphasize both modern pop culture icons, like KPop Demon Hunters, and long-running film franchises, like Toy Story and Shrek. The inclusion of Mario and PAC-MAN underscores the decades-long history of some of the most popular video game franchises in the world as well.
With 34 balloons and four balloonicles in the lineup, the 2025 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade promises to deliver plenty of iconic new balloons alongside those that have been featured before. Alongside 28 floats, 29 performers, 11 marching bands, 33 clown crews, nine performance groups, and 14 specialty units, this year's parade is going to be a truly massive celebration.
The 2025 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade went live on NBC at 8:30 a.m. ET today, and is also available to watch via Peacock.
