Golden State Warriors fans are holding their breath after the franchise’s go-to scorer, Stephen Curry, prepares to undergo an MRI.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAccording to ClutchPoints ' Kenzo Fukuda, Curry suffered a right quad contusion down the stretch of the Dubs’ 104-100 Thursday night defeat at the hands of the Houston Rockets, an injury that caused the four-time NBA champion to leave the contest prematurely.
While it wouldn’t be ideal for Curry to miss multiple games in the Bay, the Warriors have an obvious injury replacement for the future Hall of Famer if he sits out for a brief or extended period.
Brandon Podziemski, who is in the midst of completing his third season with the Warriors, should be prepared to take Curry’s spot in Golden State’s lineup.
The Santa Clara product has started eight games for the Dubs in 2025-26 and been solid off the bench lately, scoring in double figures in three of his last four contests.

Still, with Podziemski being among the Dubs’ most productive three-point shooters (he’s a catch-and-shoot specialist), it isn’t fair to state that Golden State would fall off a cliff if he has to soon replace Curry.
Simply put, while Podziemski is better suited for a less demanding offensive role that would require him to be a high usage contributor, the 22-year-old is more than capable of helping the Warriors stay afloat in the event that Curry sits out several games.
