The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 135-118 on Tuesday, but it wasn't the easiest of victories. The game was competitive for most of the first three quarters, and the Lakers' defensive coverages simply didn't get the job done until the final moments of the third quarter, when they just started to build a real lead.

This was also an Emirates NBA Cup group play game, and the win clinched first place in West Group B for the Lakers, which meant they are heading to the quarterfinal round. Multiple times during the game, players slipped and fell on the special NBA Cup court, and Luka Doncic pointed it out after the game.

"It's just slippery. It's dangerous," Doncic said after the game. "I slipped. I slipped a lot of times, and you could see a lot of players slipped. And that's dangerous, man."

This is an issue that will need to be addressed quickly. The Lakers will host the Dallas Mavericks on Friday in their final game of group play, which means they will be once again playing on a specialized NBA Cup floor.

Doncic said he started to notice how slippery the court was prior to the opening tip, but even if he found the court slippery and unsafe on Tuesday, it didn't seem to affect his play much. He scored 24 points in the first quarter, and he ended up with 43 points on 14-of-28 overall shooting and 7-of-12 from 3-point range.

It was his fifth 40-plus-point game of this season, and he's leading the league with an average of 35.2 points a game. The Slovenian native is also putting up 8.8 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
