Here are Wil Lutz’s 3-year contract details with the Broncos

The financial details of Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz's contract extension have been revealed, thanks to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Lutz came to an agreement on a new contract last Friday during the bye week.

Lutz will make $16.1 million in the three-year extension, with $9 million in guaranteed money and a $5.2 million signing bonus, according to Rapoport. Before his extension, Lutz was scheduled to become a free agent in 2026. With an average salary of $5.36 million per season, Lutz is now the sixth-highest-paid kicker in the NFL.

Lutz spoke about negotiating with the Broncos' front office on this new extension. “There was a good open line of communication with (general manager) George [Paton] and (VP of football administration) Rich [Hurtado] upstairs in training camp, just, ‘Hey, I want to be here. I want to finish my career here,’” said Lutz on Monday.  “Hopefully, it is more than just this contract. I think it was mutual. The whole process was fairly easy. We were all on the same page about where I stand in this building and that I want to be a part of this going forward. … It was as smooth as it could go."

Lutz has been a clutch kicker since arriving in the Mile High City, winning AFC Special Teams Player of the Week and AFC Special Teams Player of the Month several times, helping the Broncos to a playoff berth in 2024, and a 9-2 record thus far in 2025.

For Lutz, it will be business as usual. "We’re grateful for this opportunity and for them to put faith in me at this point in the year, when we still have a lot of football left, means a lot," Lutz said. "But at the end of the day, nothing changes. We’re still trying to move this thing forward and win football games.”

Lutz looks to continue a phenomenal season with a Sunday Night Football clash against the Washington Commanders on deck in Week 13.
