As the holidays come around, Palworld has released a trailer for their "Home Sweet Home" update, which is set to precede the game's official 1.0 launch in 2026. Included in this free expansion are plenty of new features, including a surprise crossover that most fans might not have expected. This collaboration is certainly the highlight of the update, adding some great content for long-time players to explore.
Currently, any update to Palworld comes with a grain of salt due to the ongoing legal battle their development team, Pocketpair, is going through. Nintendo's ongoing lawsuits against Palworld against the patent rights of several in-game mechanics threaten the creature capturing game's overall structure, forcing them to remove some features here and there. It is unclear whether this will impact any future updates, including Home Sweet Home.
Palworld's Home Sweet Home Update Includes A Surprise Ultrakill Crossover
Ultra Violence Makes It Way Into An Indie Collaboration

When the Home Sweet Home update goes live, Palworld will have a collaboration with hit indie FPS Ultrakill, the fast-paced action game where blood is fuel. Players can don the appearance of the ultra-violent blue robot V1 or his rival, the red V2, in this expansion, but there are more features beyond some unique costumes.
Several new weapons making it into Palworld seem to be directly inspired from Ultrakill, including V1's heavy starting pistol. Based on trailer footage, players seem to be able to use V1's signature ability to shoot coins to redirect shots, automatically hitting nearby targets. V1's coins seem to have a variety of additional mechanics too, redirecting enemy Pal blasts, diverting explosives, and much more.
Another weapon in the crossover is the standard Shotgun from Ultrakill, but it and the Pistol might not be the only weapons in the update, they are just the ones shown off in the trailer.
This update also comes with other systems new to Palworld, such as the ability to paint your base different colors. A new boss was also teased at the end of the Home Sweet Home trailer, implying that you might need the new arsenal from the Ultrakill crossover to deal with new challenges within the game.
You Can Play The Update Before Christmas
All Content Becomes Available To Download At The Perfect Time

If you want to continue boycotting Nintendo over the lawsuit, Palworld has you covered, because the Home Sweet Home update goes live on December 17, 2025. This is a week before Christmas for those who celebrate, giving you just the game to play before the holidays start truly getting hectic.
The additions to base building can also help players refine their existing homes through the update. If you already have hundreds of hours in Palworld, this expansion is the perfect time to come back and refine your structures with the cozy new features being added. For players who simply want to unlock all the Ultrakill collab items, this launch window is close enough to be exciting regardless.
2026 is bound to be a big year for this breakout indie game, despite all the legal ups and downs the title has experienced over the past year. While the Ultrakill collaboration may seem strange to some, the inclusion of such a violent crossover in Palworld may actually help it distinguish itself from Nintendo's products, helping it continue pushing fresh features with its 1.0 launch.
