A new Warbond has been announced for Helldivers 2, and fans are already praising its additions to the game before they've even been released. Arrowhead Game Studios' third-person co-op shooter has seen its ups and downs, with the game's file size on PC a current point of contention, but any pessimism hasn't gotten in the way of excitement for a couple long-requested weapons coming in the new Warbond.
As revealed by PlayStation Blog, the Python Commandos Warbond will release for Helldivers 2 on December 2, next Tuesday. Even before players get their hands on their new toys, it's already being called "the best Warbond so far," on Reddit. The Warbond's contents are generally being praised, but special excitement is directed toward the minigun and chainsword coming in Python Commandos, both of which have been regularly requested additions since Helldivers 2 launched in early 2024.
Helldivers 2 Python Commandos Warbond Releases December 2

Like previous Helldivers 2 Warbonds, Python Commandos adds a variety of new items to the game, and must be purchased with Super Credits. Once it's purchased, Medals are then used to acquire each individual item. Pyhton Commandos' full contents are:
-
Two armor sets
- RS-40 Beast of Prey (heavy)
- RS-20 Constrictor (light)
- AR/GL-21 One Two primary weapon (assault rifle with undermounted grenade launcher)
-
Three stratagems
- M1000 Maxigun (minigun)
- CQC-9 Defoliation Tool (chainsword)
- AX/FLAM-75 "Guard Dog" Hot Dog (flamethrower drone)
- Chameleon Camo skins for FRV, Exosuite, Shuttle, and Hellpod
- Rock Solid armor passive (higher stagger and ragdoll resistance)
- Mark of the Constrictor and Foe Rent Asunder capes
- Mark of the Constrictor and Foe Rent Asunder player banners
- Front-leaning Rest Position emote (one-handed push-ups)
- Python Comando player title
Helldivers 2 will receive an update on December 2 adding the Python Commandos Warbond to the game. Warbonds must be unlocked incrementally; a certain number of Medals must be spent on its first page before the second opens, for instance, so some of the above items may take more playing time to receive.
Players Are Really, Really Excited About Helldivers’ New Minigun

"THEY ACTUALLY DID IT!!!" is the title of another Reddit post about the minigu— ahem, Maxigun getting added to Helldivers 2. A belt-fed minigun has been a longstanding request by the general player base, and almost feels like an oversight given the game's maximalist combat.
A third post, also making use of the caps lock button, is titled, "THEY ADDED MINIGUNS AND A CHAINSWORD!" The latter has been similarly requested by players for more than a year at this point. The overt fascist sci-fi setting of Helldivers attracted a lot of fans from Warhammer 40,000, which popularized the chainsword, a staple weapon of its iconic Space Marines.
The Helldivers subreddt is currently filled with many such posts praising the upcoming Warbond. A lot of love is being shown to yet another item that will make your squad mad: the flamethrower Guard Dog. The drones are notoriously indiscriminate in their aim, shooting through friendly Helldivers to hit their target. Python Commandos is a hit so far, but the efficacy of the included items themselves won't be known for sure until the Warbond releases in Helldivers 2 on December 2.
