After two standout games at the Greenbrier Tip-Off, Butler forward Michael Ajayi is named one of five recipients of the USBWA Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week Award.
The hardware continues to roll in for the Gonzaga transfer as he adds a national award to his Big East Player of the Week honors announced Monday.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe 6-foot-7 forward averaged 16 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists and 2.5 blocks shots in wins over South Carolina and Virginia. Against the Gamecocks, Ajayi had 15 points and 14 rebounds, while adding three assists and two blocks. In the championship game against Virginia, Ajayi recorded a 17-point, 14-rebound double-double to go along with three blocks.
Ajayi has recorded a double-double in all six games this season, ranking him second in the nation. His 12.5 rebounds per game is fifth nationally.

"Through [junior college], Pepperdine, that comes naturally to me. Find the ball and rebound it. That's my niche, that's my superpower and I use that every day for the team to get Ws."
Junior guard Finley Bizjack averaged 21.5 points in Butler's two games at the Greenbrier, earning all-Big East Honor Roll honors.
