The Boston Celtics look to keep their current win streak against some of the top teams in the Eastern Conference standings with a tilt vs. a lowlier member of the East in the District of Columbia's Capital One Arena on this Thursday (Dec. 4) night.
That team, the Washington Wizards, is currently one of the worst ball clubs in the entire NBA in terms of their winning percentage. But the Celtics could well be without the most important player on their team this season, with a key player potentially sidelined by a non-COVID illness. The Celtics ought to be able to win either way, but the margin of error will be much smaller if this player sits, as wins by the Wiz over the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks attest.

At present, the Celtics have a 12-9 record and coming into tonight's contest after winning their last two games. That is good enough for eighth in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Wizards are the owners of a 3-17 record, good enough for last place in the East, with only the New Orleans Pelicans having a worse record.
What happened in the last game for each team?
Boston beat the New York Knicks 123-117 at home.
Washington lost to the Philadelphia 76ers 121-102 on the road.
Injuries
For the Celtics, Jayson Tatum (Achilles) is out, and Jaylen Brown (non-COVID illness) is doubtful.
For Washington, Sharife Cooper (calf), Bilal Coulibaly (oblique), Tre Jones (hip), Corey Kispert (thumb), and Alex Sarr (adductor) are out.
