Xbox Game Pass subscribers have had a great year, with hundreds of awesome games available, epic day-one releases like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and new games releasing every week. It's one of the highest-valued service available for a reason, despite recent changes to its membership plans.
One excellent and highly addictive new game headed to Xbox Game Pass Premium on December 9 is Dome Keeper, a tower defense-style roguelike action game focusing on mining mechanics in a sci-fi setting. The game has "Very Positive" ratings on Steam, and is well worth checking out when it releases on Game Pass next week.
Dome Keeper Is Brilliantly Moreish
Dome Keeper is a highly addictive and surprisingly original take on the tower defense genre with an incredibly simple design. Players essentially mine for resources in a clever gameplay loop that will keep you going back for more. It's a pixel-art style game that fans like King Krusha on Steam have said, "My playtime on this game really snuck up on me ... suddenly, it was one of my most played games in my library."
Other players hail it for its replayability and "chill" vibes, and claim it's a "Very good game to kill some hours" (Rohrus on Steam). Fans of the recent addictive indie games Megabonk or BALL x PIT will get the same moreish feeling from Dome Keeper, though the difficulty is much lower.
Dome Keeper's simple premise is rooted in digging and defending, where you defend your "dome" on the overworld with tower defense style gameplay and then dig underground to collect and obtain resources to enhance your defenses. It's a straightforward yet very fun entry in the genre that is sure to keep you going back for more.
It Joins Game Pass December 9
Dome Keeper will be your next major obsession on December 9 if you're an Xbox Game Pass Premium subscriber, and any fans of indie roguelites and tower defense games will surely want to add it to their libraries. It's one of many incredible games releasing to Xbox Game Pass this month, with other addictive games like A Game About Digging A Hole releasing on the same day.
It seems like Xbox Game Pass wants to keep you busy over the holiday season, with December being an already-stacked month of great additions. Dome Keeper is a great example of the service's value, offering games you wouldn't ever necessarily play if they weren't available for free with your subscription. These sort of games tend to be unexpected and welcome surprises for Xbox Game Pass users, and are a key reason it's so popular.
