The latest member of Wolverine's family has finally unleashed their mutant power, revealing a staggering destructive ability that's all but unprecedented in the X-Men franchise.
Wolverine's Grandson Can Seemingly Kill Anything

In today's Laura Kinney: Sabretooth #3 - from Erica Schultz, Valentina Pinti, Rachelle Rosenberg and Cory Petit - Alex Creed unleashes a gigantic burst of energy that kills multiple mutants with Wolverine-level healing factors.
The son of Wolverine's daughter Laura Kinney and Sabretooth's son Zane Creed, Alex has grown up in the dystopian Age of Revelation, seemingly without mutant abilities. However, as the mind-controlled Laura clashes with his aunt Gabby and uncle Akihiro, Alex loses control... killing them all.

Alex's blast kills not just Laura and Gabby - who each have Wolverine-tier healing factors - but also Akihiro in his Hellverine form, which has clashed with Mephisto himself. While little information is given about what type of energy Alex unleashes, it's incredibly powerful and may even be Omega-level, with Apocalypse embracing Alex as his dream of the ultimate mutant inheriting the world.

Our Take on Alex Creed's Powers

One of the fun things about X-Men lore is that while mutants often pass down the same power to their kids (see Magneto and Polaris, Jean Grey and Rachel Grey, Wolverine and Laura), sometimes a drastically new power manifests. While his family run around with claws and rapid healing, Alex turns out to be the mutant equivalent of an atom bomb.
With the Age of Revelation nearing its end, fans don't know if they'll see Alex Creed again, and Wolverine's heir is left with an incredibly dark origin, with the internecine conflict within Logan's family leading to their slaughter and the youngest member's loss of innocence.

Hopefully, Alex does get to return before the event is over (or in the ongoing alt-universe that the Age of Revelation is likely to become), since he just inherited a huge serving of the classic Wolverine angst. Logan's story, and that of his family, is about being used by others, turned into a weapon against one's own will. Alex has lived that horror dialed up to 11, and ending the story under Apocalypse's care means he's likely not done yet.

With Laura loving Sabretooth's son and even taking his codename, Laura Kinney: Sabretooth played with the idea that even the most vicious rivalries can be brought to an end by love. Sadly, its conclusion shows what happens when love isn't enough, and hate and discord tears a family apart and ultimately destroys them, with only Wolverine's grandson being left to repeat the cycle yet again.
Laura Kinney: Sabretooth #3 is available now from Marvel Comics.
