Since debuting a series version of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire in 2022, AMC has had its hands full building on the spooky world first dreamt of by the legendary author. In that time, the network has held its cards close to its chest, with its streaming service, AMC+, being the only destination where audiences could catch up on the so-dubbed Immortal Universe. But, now, they’ve branched out to Netflix and given their rival access to both Interview with the Vampire and its first offshoot, Mayfair Witches. Recently, the two streamers did yet another deal that saw Netflix add the first and only season of the newly released Talamasca: The Secret Order to its catalogue, and, according to FlixPatrol, the title is taking off.

Right now, the freshly wrapped debut season of Talamasca is proving itself as a streaming sensation, with audiences from around the world tuning into Netflix to see it for themselves. Currently sitting in the fourth position, the bewitching production is just behind other newly added hits like The Beast in Me, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, and, of course, the first half of Stranger Things’ final season. When eyeing up its global takeover, subscribers from more than 40 countries are eager to see what Rice and AMC’s expanding universe has to offer, with folks from Guatemala to New Zealand helping boost the show’s viewership numbers.

The added pep in its step comes as a massive win for the folks behind Talamasca: The Secret Order, as no Season 2 renewal has been made public at this time. On top of that, the project has fallen behind one of its Rice-based brethren on Rotten Tomatoes, with Interview with the Vampire taking a bite out of a nearly perfect critics’ score of 99% — incredibly far ahead of Talamasca’s 64%. Still, the good news for those hoping for a second season about the group who hunts the hunters is that Mayfair Witches currently holds the franchise’s worst score — 59% — and is already moving into its third season.

The Future of Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe

Whether Talamasca: The Secret Order lands another season or not doesn’t really matter for the folks behind the Immortal Universe, who are already back to the drawing board with numerous plans for future spin-offs. Producer Mark Johnson recently revealed that “there is a list” when it comes to what Rice-penned books they’d like to adapt next. “There’s so many good ideas,” he said, “She is an extraordinary writer, and that much more extraordinary when you realize when she was writing — it’s really so far ahead of her time.” In total, there are “three or four other titles” that the folks at AMC are looking into, meaning there’s loads of options out there for what’s already proven to be a sure-fire hit.

Season 1 of Talamasca: The Secret Order is now streaming on Netflix.
