You've been to the supermarket recently. You've watched TV. You won't have missed the fact that Christmas has come around again. Another way of telling? The Netflix most watched movies chart. As Jesus' birthday looms on the calendar, streamers look to match up their content with the festivities. So we'll start to see more and more Christmas movies and TV specials heading our way. We're barely into December and already one film featuring folk in Santa suits is proving popular. Although this one's a little closer to Die Hard than It's a Wonderful Life in tone and Christmas feeling. What film are we talking about? Well, you'll see soon enough. Just after you've checked out the other nine films dominating last week's top 10 most streamed flicks over on Netflix... (Picture: Netflix)
10. A Man Called Otto - 3,600,000 views this week
We're used to seeing Hollywood A-lister Tom Hanks as a kind of bubbly, jovial figure, aren't we? Here, in this Marc Forster (Stranger than Fiction, Quantum of Solace, World War Z) comedy-drama, the Big star is playing against type as a curmudgeon who finds a new lease of life when new neighbours move in next door and spoil his plans to 'end things' prematurely. It's a little grim in places for younger viewers, but ultimately an uplifting watch. Perfectish for this time of year. (Picture: Netflix)
9. Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom - 3,900,000 views
On its release two years ago, most of the talk about this DC Comics sequel surrounded the return of Amber Heard to the cast after her controversial court case. While this follow-up may not have made a huge cultural impact, it did still take over $440m at the box office alone. So it's not huge surprise to discover that plenty of people are enjoying Jason Momoa's Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom now it's available to watch at home. (Picture: Netflix)
8. A Merry Little Ex-Mas - 4,000,000 views
If you're looking for some cheap 'n' cheerful fun in the build-up to Christmas, you can do worse than this knockabout 90 minute rom-com. So it won't stay in the memory too long. Who cares? It's a light and breezy way to while away the time as you're putting up the tree or writing out your Christmas cards. Alicia Silverstone and Oliver Hudson star. 7. The Carman Family Deaths - 4,700,000 views
Okay, so a documentary film about a man's dramatic rescue at sea that quickly turns into accusations that the guy killed two members of his rich New England family might not sound all that festive. And, well, it's not. But, still. Whatever time of year it is, people can't get enough true crime docs. And this one's a doozy. If you think your family's hard work at times, you ain't seen nothing yet... (Picture: Netflix)
6. Train Dreams - 6,900,000 views
Joel Edgerton is superb here in this contemplative drama about a loving family man's struggle to support his wife and daughter and - after a terrible incident - his journey through grief. It's about as fun as that sounds too. This is a very good film. It is, however, also a very, very sad one. Don't watch if you're feeling a bit blue, it's likely to ruin Christmas for you. Felicity Jones and William H. Macy co-star in a classy Netflix Original that could well see Edgerton nominated for an Academy Award in a few months' time. (Picture: Netflix/AP)
5. Frankenstein - 7,300,000 views
Guillermo del Toro's version of Mary Shelley's 1818 gothic masterpiece is the latest adaptation of the horror classic. And it's one of the most inventive too. Sure, it's gory, epic and spectacular in places. But it's also a touching character study. Oscar Isaac plays the God complex doctor of the title, while Jacob Elordi shines as his creation. Mia Goth steals the show in a dual role. This is Frankenstein's fourth week in the top 10 chart. And it's going nowhere yet. (Picture: Netflix/AP)
4. In Your Dreams - 9,300,000 views
Netflix’s popular new animated adventure is from former Pixar talent Alex Woo and follows siblings Stevie and Elliot as they plunge into a wild dream realm to track down The Sandman. The film's won fans with its pacing, confident world-building and high-grade animation, with all the sort of visual polish and comedic timing you expect from top-tier studio veterans. 3. KPop Demon Hunters - 10,400,000 views
What more can be said about this cultural behemoth? Not much. So we'll keep this brief. What started out as a fun little animation about a South Korean pop band that battles supernatural entities as a sideline has turned into an absolute global phenomenon. This is Kpop Demon Hunters' 24th week in and around the top of these charts. And it could well stick around for another 24 weeks... (Picture: Netflix)
2. Champagne Problems - 14,400,000 views
Minka Kelly is Sydney Price, a driven executive sent to Paris to buy a champagne vineyard for her bosses before Christmas. Tom Wozniczka is Henri Cassell, the heir she needs to deal with. Things, obviously, start out tense, but soon turn slushy. Kinder critics praised Champagne Problems, calling it a movie that 'goes down smooth thanks to its entertaining cast, strong script and its dazzling presentation.' (Picture: Netflix)
1. Jingle Bell Heist - 19,300,000 views
Set in London at Christmastime, this fun crime-rom-com expertly mixes holiday cheer with a bit of criminal flair. The film is directed by Michael Fimognari, a man more known for his cinematography work with horror maestro Mike Flangan. It stars Heart Eyes' Olivia Holt as Sophie, a cash-strapped retail worker, and SAS: Rogue Heroes star Connor Swindells as Nick, a former convict down on his luck. They team up to rob a swanky department store on Christmas Eve - only to find their shaky alliance complicated by all manner of romance and secrets. The supporting cast includes some well-placed comic relief in the shapes of Lucy Punch and Peter Serafinowicz, who play the duplicitous store-owner and his wife. (Picture: Netflix)
