LANCASTER – The high school boys’ basketball season officially tipped off last week, and it should be another exciting year for teams in the area.

There will certainly be several intriguing storylines, especially with seven divisions in the tournament. While teams lose talented players, there is no shortage of talent returning as teams gear up for another exciting season of high school basketball.

Coach: Kent Riggs (ninth season)

Conference: Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division

Coach Riggs’ take: “We will need to find a replacement for Colton Bruny, our starting point guard for the last three seasons and leading scorer. Experience with eight seniors on the roster is a positive. Rebounding and inside defense will be a concern with our lack of size.”

We find ourselves in a unique position because we’re still a young team, but we’re returning tons of varsity experience from last year’s group. You add in some talented players who will be contributing in our rotation for the first time this year, and we could have something really remarkable. We have an extremely hard-working group of kids, which is what it’s going to take to achieve the goals we’ve set out for ourselves this year. We just need to go out and earn it.”
