The Minnesota Vikings announced Monday that they have granted wide receiver Adam Thielen's request to be waived.

"Following discussions through the weekend and out of respect for Adam, we have agreed to give him the opportunity to pursue more playing time elsewhere," Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said in a statement.

In his own statement on social media, Thielen indicated that 2025 will be his final season in the NFL, and he's hoping to join a contender for the final stretch of his career. This may or may not be a notable development for the 10-2 Denver Broncos, who are competing for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

Broncos GM George Paton was an assistant GM in Minnesota when they signed Theilen as an undrafted rookie out of Minnesota State in 2013, and Denver pursued the receiver during NFL free agency in 2023.

Thielen, 35, has 693 career receptions for 8,380 yards and 64 touchdowns on his resume, but he only totaled eight catches for 69 yards through 11 games with the Vikings this fall. The Broncos currently have five WRs on the active roster: Courtland Sutton, Pat Bryant, Marvin Mims, Troy Franklin and Lil'Jordan Humphrey. Time will tell if Thielen is a candidate to be added to the mix.
