The New York Jets defeated the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13, notching just their third victory of what has been a tumultuous 2025 season, and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell was integral to their success.
Mitchell was playing in his ninth game of the season, and just his third contest with the Jets after being acquired at the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
Still, he played foil to the Falcons in what was an upset for the Jets, playing with backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor under center for the second straight week after going with Justin Fields in Week 11.
For the Jets, it is a small stepping stone in what they are hoping to build under head coach Aaron Glenn, who is in his first year with the organization. For Mitchell, though, the showing was redeeming.

Mitchell finished Sunday’s contest with eight receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown, leading the game in both categories. Afterward, he got a chance to reflect on the moment.
"Ty put a great ball up there and it was just a matter of finishing the opportunity," Mitchell said, reviewing footage of the play in a clip Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz posted on X. "Shout out to my celly. I’ve been waiting to hit that celly my whole life, for real. Shout out to Ty man, Ty gave me my first career (touchdown). I'll always remember this."
Mitchell is up to 20 receptions for 306 yards and one TD this season.
The Jets acquired Mitchell from the Indianapolis Colts three weeks ago. The Colts drafted Mitchell in the second round of the 2024 draft, selecting him with the No. 52 overall pick.

Mitchell ended Sunday 50 yards shy of matching his production with the Colts this season. He posted 23 catches and 312 yards for the Colts as a rookie.
He saw increased opportunities partly due to the Jets still being without Garrett Wilson.
Wilson is on injured reserve with a knee injury. Wilson is not eligible to return until Week 15, when the Jets will face the Jacksonville Jaguars, though shutting him down for the remainder of the season is also a possibility, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini on Nov. 13.
