When the coaching carousel churns in college football, names of top coaches and coordinators are going to pop up and become part of the rumor mill. Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning knows this as well as anyone, having to publicly turn down several high-profile jobs over the past few years to routinely pledge his full loyalty in Eugene.

It's gotten to the point where Lanning no longer comes up in conversations about coaching vacancies, because he's made it clear that he's not leaving. As for his coordinators, though, that's a different story.

With Oregon having one of the best offenses and defenses in the nation, offensive coordinator Will Stein and defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi have become hot names on the coaching market. With more and more jobs opening up every week, both Stein and Lupoi have been listed as top candidates to start their head coaching careers, most recently for the California Golden Bears opening.

On Monday night, Lanning was asked about his coordinators being mentioned for other jobs, and he gave a lengthy response.

Ultimately, time will tell if either Lupoi or Stein ends up leaving Eugene this year or in the years down the road, but there is a feeling that both will likely move on to take over their own programs at some point in the future. If and when that day comes, Lanning is going to be thrilled to see them move up and take on their own challenges.
