Real Madrid dealt a fresh transfer blow

La Liga giants Real Madrid appear to be facing up to a fresh blow on the transfer front.

This comes amid suggestions that Dayot Upamecano is looking increasingly likely to renew his contract with German champions Bayern Munich.

Stopper Upamecano has of course been hotly tipped for a move to Spain’s capital with a view to next summer.

This comes with the Real Madrid brass, on the lookout for reinforcements at centre-back, having earmarked the Frenchman as a leading target.

After pulling the plug on their pursuit of compatriot Ibrahima Konaté of Liverpool over recent days, speculation linking Los Blancos with a free agent swoop for Upamecano in turn only mounted.

Safe to say, then, that the latest word stemming from Munich will likely mark a source of concern for Florentino Pérez and co.

Drawn on the situation of the club’s defensive standout during an exchange with the media on Monday, Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeneß confirmed:

“I think he will extend his contract.“
