Louisville women's basketball will go into Thursday's ACC/SEC Challenge against No. 3 South Carolina ranked 22nd in the AP Top 25, released on Monday.
The Cardinals (7-2) rebounded from a 72-62 loss to rival and 19th-ranked Kentucky with three wins — over Bellarmine, Eastern Illinois and East Tennessee State — in their post-Thanksgiving multi-team event. They'll now try to add a top-three win over the Gamecocks, who they've only beaten four times. The last meeting between the two program was in the 2022 Final Four and South Carolina won, 72-59, en route to a national championship. That was also the Cardinals' last Final Four appearance.

The Gamecocks are one of four top-25 teams the Cardinals are set to face in the nonconference schedule. So far, they're 0-2 against ranked opponents but will have one more opportunity after South Carolina when they play No. 19 Tennessee in the 2025 Women's Champions Classic on Dec. 20 in Brooklyn, New York.
Early bracketology projects Louisville to be a 6-seed with the Volunteers as the host 3-seed of the Region 1 Fort Worth side of the bracket.
