Spurs Women: what’s everyone up to on international break?

What do you want first, the good news or the bad news?

Tottenham Hotspur Women are currently away on international break. The team is actually… good (???) this year, so instead of twiddling my thumbs for two weeks I’m anxiously checking all the apps for updates just to make sure none of our young standouts have gotten injured. Presumably, some of you are doing this too, so I thought I’d bring you all a little midway point update.

Most of the usual suspects received their international callups. Eveliina Summanen and Olga Ahtinen were both called up for Finland. Tinka Tandberg joined up with new signing Signe Gaupset on Norway duty. Clare Hunt went off to Australia while Charli Grant stayed home to rehab a knee injury. Martha Thomas got the call from Scotland, as did Drew Spence for Jamaica, Olivia Holdt for Denmark, Toko Koga for Japan, and Lize Kop for the Netherlands. A few of our players appeared in youth squads, namely Matilda Vinberg for Sweden U23s, Lenna Gunning-Williams for England U23s, and Sophie Jackson for England U20s.

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first. We learned before Norway’s November 27th friendly against Brazil that Tinka Tandberg had left camp and returned to Spurs to rehab an unspecified injury. At the time of writing this, Spurs have also not clarified anything about Tinka’s injury. Tinka has been a real bright spot, and any time she might miss is cause for concern. Martin Ho doesn’t seem to be particularly forthcoming about minor injuries (Ash Neville and Molly Bartrip both missed most of preseason and September, and we never really got clear updates or timelines from the club), so we may not find out much more unless it’s really bad news.

Our new star Signe Gaupset gave us something more positive to talk about in Norway’s friendly with Brazil. Signe scored twice and was voted player of the match. She left the pitch in the 73rd minute in a regular substitution–thank god–and as much as I’d like to bubble wrap her and bring her back to Spurs immediately, we will likely see her face Denmark and Olivia Holdt on Monday December 1st instead.

MILAN, ITALY – AUGUST 27: Signe Gaupset of SK Brann during the UEFA Women’s Champions League match between FC Internazionale and SK Brann at Youth Development Center on August 27, 2025 in Milan, Italy. Elsewhere, Drew Spence and Jamaica thrashed the Dominican Republic 18-0 (not a typo). Given the scoreline, I’m kind of surprised her only goal contribution was a single assist, but whatever–save the good stuff for us, Drew! Martha Thomas scored an equalizer for Scotland in their 1-1 draw against Ukraine, hopefully a sign that her scoring form is returning. Eveliina, Matilda and Toko both played full 90s for their respective teams, and Lenna appeared as a substitute for England U23s. Sophie Jackson grabbed a few minutes in England U20’s defeat to the USYWNT U20 side.

Most of our players still have games ahead of them on December 1st and 2nd. Obviously I’m going to be following Norway vs. Denmark peering from between my fingers since it features two of the players I’d most like to magically protect from injury. The WSL resumes this coming weekend. Spurs face Aston Villa next on December 7th, so presumably, we’ll hear some updates on players’ fitness in the press conference that precedes the game. Until then, I’ll be crossing all of my fingers and toes that Tinka’s injury is minor, and that Martin will tell us everyone else came back just fine.
