Golding is also expected to remain as the Rebels’ defensive coordinator, per On3's Chris Low. He assumes control after Kiffin’s departure for LSU, pausing his Rebels exit plan amid disagreement with school officials over postseason availability.

After hours-long meetings Saturday in Oxford involving athletic director Keith Carter and chancellor Glenn Boyce, Ole Miss informed Kiffin he would not be allowed to coach the team through the playoff if he accepted another job. Golding will now finish the 2025 postseason run.

Golding joined Kiffin’s staff at Ole Miss in 2023 as defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach. Prior to Oxford, he held the same position at Alabama under Nick Saban from 2018-22. His coaching career, which began in 2006 with multiple stops in the southern region. Ole Miss went 11-1 in the regular season and will reach the CFP without playing for an SEC title.

Kiffin continues his push to import Ole Miss offensive assistants to Baton Rouge, mandating travel Sunday or forfeiture of LSU staff placement. Carter now turns to Golding to steer Ole Miss’ program.
