With Black Clover inching closer to its conclusion, fans have been closely watching every new development surrounding the manga to find out what might happen next. As such, back in October 2025 when Weekly Shonen Jump announced that the series was heading towards its "super climax," fans started preparing for the worst. That's when the manga unveiled a new update.
According to the latest Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine, Black Clover manga is set to release three new chapters on January 5, 2026, in the upcoming Jump GIGA WINTER 2026 magazine. Fortunately, the promotional material did not mention anything about the upcoming chapters being the manga's final installments. This implies that there may still be some more time before the manga ends.
Black Clover's Latest Update Brings Good News for the Fans
Asta and Secre as seen in Black Clover Sword of the Wizard King movie
As fans must remember, after Black Clover released its three Fall 2025 chapters, Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine released a new promotional material for the series, suggesting that the series was heading towards its "Super Climax" in the upcoming Jump GIGA magazine issue.
Although the manga has been hinting towards its "climax" for some time now, what made the promotional material stand out was the term "super climax." As seen previously, Shueisha is known for using the term "super climax" whenever a weekly manga's next chapter is going to be the final one or when the series will end in the next three to five chapters.
Hence, considering Black Clover has released three chapters in a single Jump GIGA issue multiple times, fans were worried that the series would end with its next batch of chapters set to release in Winter 2026.
That's when the manga released its new promotional material. As per Shueisha's latest announcement in issue #1 2026 of the Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine, Yuki Tabata's Black Clover manga is set to release three new chapters on Monday, January 5, 2026, in the upcoming Jump GIGA WINTER 2026 magazine.
While this news itself should leave fans excited, what drew their attention even more was that the latest promotional material mentioned nothing about the upcoming three chapters being the manga's final installments. As such, it is implied that the manga isn't going to end with the upcoming Jump GIGA magazine issue.
What to expect from Black Clover chapters 387, 388, & 389?
Yuno Grinberryall as seen in Black Clover Sword of the Wizard King movie
Considering that Black Clover chapter 386 ended with Asta and Yuno slashing Lucius Zogratis together, the manga's upcoming chapter will likely see Lucius get back on his feet. While it is indeed true that Lucius was injured, given that the antagonist now has the magic attributes of all people from the past, there is a good chance that he might heal himself using one of the many Healing Magic abilities available at his disposal.
As such, the manga's upcoming chapters will likely see Lucius Zogratis continue fighting Asta and Yuno. That said, considering the manga is very close to its conclusion, fans can also hope to witness Lucius Zogratis' backstory and learn why he was adamant on turning all humans into Paladins.
Hopefully, with the manga's release still more than a month away, Shueisha might release a preview synopsis for the upcoming chapters in the next few weeks.
