The South Dakota football team took down Drake, 38-17, in the opening round of the FCS playoffs on Nov. 29.
Aidan Bouman completed 15 of his 20 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns. L.J. Philips Jr. led the way on the ground with 132 yards on just 14 carries and a touchdown. Larenzo Fenner was the top pass-catcher, hauling in five passes for 115 yards and three touchdowns.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe score was tied, 3-3, following the first quarter, but by halftime, the Coyotes were in the lead, 17-10. But it was the second half where USD really took control. The Coyotes outscored Drake 21-7 over the final two frames to earn a commanding victory.
With the win, South Dakota advances to the second round of the FCS playoffs. They'll hit the road to take on Mercer on Saturday, Dec. 6, in Macon, GA. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
