Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs appeared to get back in the AFC playoff race with a win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12.
After facing a 20-9 deficit in the fourth quarter, Mahomes and company capped off an epic comeback en route to a 23-20 victory. The win moved the Chiefs to 6-5 on the season and within striking distance of a playoff spot in the AFC, despite dropping one spot in the standings.
"This is exactly what we needed, to win against a really good team and the game is not going your way," Mahomes said after the game. "You could've folded in that situation -- and kind of the rest of the season -- but guys responded. It was a do-or-die type of thing. Guys made plays happen."
One member of the Colts suffered a double loss in the contest, though.

Former first-round pick Laiatu Latu started his game against Mahomes and the Chiefs on the right page, intercepting a pass from the star quarterback. However, with 32 seconds left in the first half, Latu was flagged for roughing the passer on the three-time Super Bowl champion.
Over the first 11 weeks of the season, the NFL Operations Department has handed out 15 fines for roughing the passer with the fines totaling over $225,000.
"To protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity, the NFL and NFL Players Association have agreed on a set of game-related rules violations that may result in accountability measures," the NFL Operations Department says in a statement about the punishments on its website.
While Latu faced a potential fine, the NFL ultimately made the decision not to punish the second-year pro for his hit on Mahomes. As is the case will all of the fines the league hands down on a weekly basis, all incidents are at the discretion of the NFL in determinign which situations warrant supplemental discipline and which don't.
