Virginia returns from a bye week after taking a 34-17 victory at Duke on Nov. 15 and, with a 6-1 record in ACC play, needs only to win on Saturday night to get to the conference championship game. The Cavaliers have a path to the title game even with a loss, but it would require a lot of moving parts to fall into place, including losses by Pitt, SMU, Duke, and NC State. J’Mari Taylor leads the offense with 917 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, with Chandler Morris throwing for 2,404 yards with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Trell Harris is the top target with 51 catches, 766 yards, and five scores.
Virginia Tech lost its third straight last week, falling 34-17 to visiting Miami. The Hokies ran for 194 yards, led by Marcellous Hawkins’ 72 yards on eight carries, while Jeffrey Overton and William Watson III had touchdown runs. Kyron Drones was 12-of-21 for 124 yards while taking four sacks, with Ayden Green catching five balls for 95 yards.
The Cavaliers look to stop a four-game losing streak to Virginia Tech, which won at home last season 37-17. The Hokies are 61-38-5 all-time against Virginia, which has won just once in the previous 20 meetings.
