Gambit and Rogue easily have one of Marvel’s most beloved mutant romances, and their wedding has just been adapted for Marvel Rivals. As seen in the brand-new Marvel Rivals season 5, Gambit has joined the game's already impressive roster, and Rogue isn't far behind.
Currently, new additions to Rivals' established lore look to be adapting the original comics in some really cool ways with Rogue and Gambit's wedding, some major cosmic stakes, and even connections to Doctor Doom's tragic family history. Here's what we know about Gambit and Rogue's wedding in Marvel Rivals, and how it compares to the comics.
Gambit & Rogue Just Got Married In Marvel Rivals
In Marvel Rivals season 5, recent gallery cards and new lore entries have confirmed that Gambit and Rogue marry on Krakoa right before the Timestream Entanglement sent the entire island into the year 2099, scattering their wedding rings across time and space.
At the same time, the timestream chaos saw Grandmaster discovering a mysterious contract in The Collector's vast collection, one signed by someone with the last name "Doom" (it's been teased that this is Mephisto's contract with Doctor Doom's mother from the original comics).
Seeing the contract as potential leverage, the Grandmaster secretly hires Gambit to steal it from the Collector. In exchange, the Elder of the Universe promises to forge new wedding rings out of Chronovium while also granting the newlyweds access to the Grand Garden for a cosmic honeymoon. Gambit agrees in Marvel Rivals season 5 (but keeps the job details hidden from his new wife).
As a result, Gambit convinces Krakoa's Quiet Council to treat the honeymoon as a diplomatic mission, leaving gateways to Krakoa across the universe to help mutants find their way home. As such, their journey in Marvel Rivals season 5 becomes part romance, part secret heist, and part interstellar outreach effort.
Additionally, it's been revealed that Remy LeBeau isn't as sneaky as he thinks he is, as Rogue is well aware her new husband is up to something.
Gambit & Rogue's Original Marvel Comics Wedding Explained

In Marvel Comics, Gambit and Rogue were finally married in X-Men Gold #30 (a spontaneous wedding ceremony originally meant for Colossus and Kitty Pryde), with their honeymoon taking place in Kelly Thompson’s Mr. and Mrs. X (2018).
Although their wedding took place prior to the creation of Krakoa as a new mutant nation, their honeymoon similarly took them to space, immediately clashing with Mojo, the Shi’ar, and ties to Gambit's past with the Theives and Assassin's Guild. Even Deadpool briefly crashed the honeymoon (who's heavily expected to join Rivals' roster next season).
The similarities are clear: both versions feature a dream wedding and commitment of love, a honeymoon among the stars, and ongoing trouble following the husband-and-wife everywhere they go.
However, Rivals has put its own unique spin on this adaptation, adding new stakes via the Grandmaster’s deal, the ancient Doom contract, and the rivalry between Elders. It respects the comics while reshaping the narrative into something fresh and new for its own continuity.
The result feels like an entertaining evolution rather than a simple retelling. Marvel Rivals is very much honoring classic Gambit/Rogue lore in season 5, giving players a storyline that expands their romance and struggles with new challenges and new narrative territory to be explored.
