Fact is, Germany will not play any more games for at least 3 more months. What is also true, however, is that rumors and theories never stop being spun. After Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win over St. Pauli, the World Cup winner was asked about whether he could imagine a return to the German national team. After all, since he retired in 2024, no goalkeeper has truly managed to make the No.1 spot their own and Bayern’s captain had arguably outplayed all the candidates for the position.
But Neuer has consistently refused to consider the possibility for a return in the past and maintains that stance now: “No. The fact is, I deliberately retired [from the national team],” the former Schalke 04 goalkeeper insisted, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “My focus is clearly on the club.”
One has to respect Neuer’s desire to stick to his decisions. But is it the right decision? Would re-integrating Neuer one last time improve Julian Nagelsmann’s team?
