The two biggest programs in college football collide on Saturday when Michigan hopes to put this season’s form guides to one side in the hopes of landing a fifth straight win over Ohio State. The Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor as the top-ranked team in the nation and aim to see out the regular-season schedule with a perfect 12-0 record intact.
The Wolverines are long past being able to boast those same bragging rights, though commemorating the biggest win of them all to finish 10-2 would be no subtle consolation. An upset in this fixture almost exactly 12 months ago denied Ohio State top spot in the Big Ten, but the Buckeyes won’t have forgotten the scars left by that close battle as they travel to Michigan with revenge in mind.
The Buckeyes haven’t managed a victory over Michigan since Ryan Day’s debut year at the helm back in 2019. That triumph was inspired by players Justin Fields, JK Dobbins, Garrett Wilson, and Chris Olave, each of whom has gone on to forge success in the NFL.
Six years on, and there can be no doubt that both rosters possess talents who will undoubtedly go on to compete at the highest level of the sport. Those same stars will hope to use The Game as a testing ground to prove their worth, while Michigan can still dream of a place in the College Football Playoff if things shake out just right in the Big Ten this Thanksgiving weekend.
