Close to half a year after KPop Demon Hunters' debut and dazzling success, the 2025 Netflix movie is still building its records and legacy. 2025 has been a big year for many animated movies, with Ne Zha 2 currently having the highest box office of this period.

While KPop Demon Hunters' box office results are substantially lower, the fact it released in cinemas after its initial debut on Netflix is in many ways a testament to its popularity. Indeed, recent history has provided even stronger proof that KPop Demon Hunters' star is still holding strong even all this time later.

KPop Demon Hunters has gone from strength to strength ever since it first released on Netflix in June 2025, which has been reflected in the consistent success the film has enjoyed over the past few months.

This has first and foremost been in terms of the movie becoming the most-watched ever film released on Netflix's platform - having now been watched for 541,800,000 hours according to Netflix's statistics - but the feats by no means stop there. KPop Demon Hunters also managed to hold the number one spot on Netflix's proverbial leaderboard for multiple months, which is similarly impressive to note.

Even five months later, and with almost an entirely different lineup of films now around it, KPop Demon Slayers is still in Netflix's Top 10 most-watched movies of the week as of November 17–23, which marks its 23rd consecutive week of holding this title - a detail that is strikingly impressive in of itself, since it shows the movie is still going strong almost half a year later.

Looking at how KPop Demon Hunters has retained its popularity for such a long stretch of time underlines the ways in which the movie seems to have the capacity to blossom into a wider franchise with further follow-up releases. Thankfully, we already know there are talks about KPop Demon Hunters 2 already, with reports stating the KPop Demon Hunters sequel is set to release in 2029.

While there's certainly pressure on KPop Demon Hunters 2 to live up to the level of success the first film is still enjoying, the staggering watch time of the 2025 film shows just how much it's appealed to a huge audience - and suggested people are rewatching the film in order to enjoy the world and its characters again, meaning these viewers would no doubt be thrilled to get a sequel.

With KPop Demon Hunters still being in fifth place in Netflix's Top 10 most-watched weekly lineup, it stands to reason the movie's popularity isn't going to diminish anytime soon - which should hopefully only further cement any prospective sequel's success later down the line.
