Warning: Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season 5, volume 1Stranger Things season 5, volume 1, has had mixed reviews so far as fans waited three years for the final season to surface, and the Netflix show is finally getting redemption.
The final episode of Volume 1, titled "Sorcerer," is now the highest-rated episode of the series so far with a 9.8/10 on IMDb. However, despite the high score on IMDb, the Rotten Tomatoes ranking has been on a steady decline since season 1, with the first season having a critical 97% rating and season 5 (so far) with a steady 87% rating.
The series has reportedly generated over $1 billion in revenue for Netflix and is constantly trending on the streaming service. Despite the mixed reviews, fans returned in spades, which even caused Netflix to crash temporarily upon the release of season 5, volume 1.
In ScreenRant’s review by Kara Hedash for Volume 1, she praised the series but stated, "The Duffer Brothers make several risky story decisions in the first four episodes of season 5 that will have serious consequences; it may even change the perception surrounding the entire series."
Since only four episodes of the final season have aired so far, it’ll be hard to gauge what the overall ratings of the final season will be. However, based on episode 4’s epic conclusion, it seems likely ratings will pick up as the story gets even crazier.
Episode 4 of Volume 1 saw Will Byers (played by Noah Schnapp) finally realize his full potential and harness Vecna’s powers, saving his friends from being mauled by demogorgans. The crazy development led to joyous fan reactions for the episode due to Will’s storyline being terribly tragic since he was taken during season 1.

Will’s newfound powers have suddenly raised the stakes for the team of heroes in Hawkins, making Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) not the only person capable of mind-bending powers. The pacing and tension leading up to the final moments engaged enough of the audience to reach such a big milestone and make it the highest-rated episode for the series so far.
Volume 1 of Stranger Things season 5 is now available on Netflix. Volume 2 is set to release on December 25, with the series finale coming to Netflix on December 31.
