The financial realities of modern football are not making it any easier on a club like Bayern Munich.
The Bavarians are Germany’s strongest and most financially powerful club by some distance but face an increasingly steep hill to climb against Europe’s elite — several of which are backed by deep state-sponsored pocket books rather than their own financial success and discipline.

“There should be a limit on player salaries,” Hainer said in a November interview with Abendzeitung, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “We have to achieve that in the long term, otherwise the clubs will get poorer and the players richer.
“It’s not getting any easier. We always say we still want to remain independent and compete for the European crown. We have to be better than others in other areas. So far, we’re doing quite well.”
